Thomas Salzano has also literally swum with sharks. As a certified SCUBA diver, he has ventured to the dangerous depths of various ocean areas, many times to observe and swim with sharks. Sharks are of course extremely dangerous animals, and when provoked, they can seriously injure or kill people. But fear of shark attack may be overblown. As long as one stays safe in the water with protective equipment while avoiding provoking the sharks’ hunting instincts, one can swim with sharks safely. One key in the water with a shark is to never resemble its natural prey. Sharks occasionally take bites of people when they’re surfing or swimming above them because they can resemble seals. As long as you respect the shark as the king of the underwater kingdom, you’ll likely be fine.

Thomas Salzano isn’t afraid to tempt a little danger from time to time, but he’s always safe and responsible when tempting fate—a lesson he hopes to impart to all.
